Cameron Normand supports residents at Borden Cottage through individual sessions and group programming with a focus on family systems and the ways addiction reshapes family life, working within the motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavior therapy frameworks used throughout the program.
Cameron is a nationally recognized expert in stepfamily dynamics, training professionals who work with blended families, co-authoring research alongside leading experts in the field, and speaking at academic and clinical conferences in the U.S. and abroad – experience she brings directly to her work at Borden, where many residents are navigating recovery within complex, multi-household family structures. She is completing her M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at William & Mary and will pursue dual licensure as a clinical professional counselor and a licensed alcohol and drug counselor in Maine.
Before turning to clinical work, Cameron spent 23 years in law and public policy, including senior roles on Capitol Hill and as a public policy executive at Time Warner and Sony Pictures. She is a Washington Business Journal Women Who Mean Business award recipient and has served on numerous non-profit boards. She holds a JD from Emory University School of Law and a BA, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina.
Cameron lives on the Midcoast of Maine with her husband and their two dogs, and she can usually be found knitting, enjoying the outdoors, volunteering, or planning her next trip.
