Eddie came to Borden Cottage from the Behavioral Health Unit at Maine General Hospital in Augusta. “One of the things that interested me about Borden was having the opportunity to get to know and understand the residents in a deeper way than what’s possible in a hospital setting.”

Nursing is a second career for Eddie, who worked previously in television and movie advertising. He worked first in Los Angeles editing film trailers for various film studios. Following editing stints in the Midwest, Eddie moved to New York City, where he worked as a producer and editor for The History Channel. “It was interesting, creative work, but ultimately it left me unfulfilled. Something was missing. I wanted to focus on work that was more meaningful, where I would be able to give back. Having family members who have struggled with addiction and successfully completed recovery programs had a profound impact on me. I was always fascinated by the connection between mental and physical health but seeing recovery programs work helped me decide to become a nurse in a dual-diagnosis setting.

When not at work, Eddie enjoys spending time with his family at their cottage on the St. George River or skiing at the Camden Snow Bowl. He plans to pursue a master’s degree to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
