Therapist, Social Worker
Katie Cronin, LCSW, comes to Borden Cottage with a background in social work, substance use treatment, and school-based mental health. She has spent much of her career working alongside adolescents and families in residential, school, and community settings, supporting people through periods of change, uncertainty, and growth. Her experience also includes work with substance use disorders, restorative justice, and medication-assisted treatment.
Katie approaches therapy as a collaborative process grounded in curiosity, compassion, and genuine human connection. She believes that meaningful change often begins with creating enough safety for people to better understand themselves—how they think, feel, relate to others, and make sense of their experiences. Her work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and trauma-informed and relational approaches. She particularly enjoys helping people explore the connections between their values, relationships, and recovery, and finding practical ways to carry that work into everyday life.
Before becoming a social worker, Katie studied photography and jewelry at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She continues to value creativity and the arts as ways of making meaning and connecting with others. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her family, gardening, being outdoors, and creating in her studio.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
-Carl Rogers
